  • Top Trumps!

Well, here we are again, time for someone from Lifestylish.com to choose their 3 favourite items from the depths of the stores. This month it isn't exactly staff, but our inspiration, the lovely missus, Ju! Ju was there when Lifestylish.com was conceived and born, encouraged its early steps and helped it become the success it is today.

And (trumpets sounding...) here are her 3 favourite items:

In 3rd place is our Rob Ryan Bunting.  16 colourful pennants feature Rob Ryan's fanciful designs. These are a particular fave as they do their bit for the environment by being printed on eco-friendly unbleached cotton, and as Ju says, 'everyone likes a bit of bunting'!

Coming a close second is our range of Catherine Lansfield Bedding. The fresh design and bright colours of the Canterbury range are enough to cheer up any home. Inspired by Cath Kidston, there are a range of designs to suit and you can complete the look with towels and curtains to match.

In top place is the framed Personalised Family Poster Print. Ju is all about her family and this print immortalises your family in a particular year; in a stylish, modern and vibrant design. Ju has all the family, including Bob the Dog, in hers and feels it taps into her lifestyle and personal taste with its styling. It certainly makes a change from the typical family portrait! It also makes a great present, especially for christenings and anniversary's.

So there you have 'the missus' in a nutshell really, eco - friendly, colourful (read into that what you will!) and above all else 'family'.

  • A Sleep Sensation

Lifestylish.com sell an amazing range of bedding, that's great snuggle down under. In honour of our fine bedding we thought we would find our top 5 sleep trivia facts - you never know when it will come in handy at the next pub quiz!

    1. The common adult needs approximately 7 to 9 hours sleep per day - this changes as you get older right - no! Over 50% of people over 64 suffer from a sleep disorder. We're not looking forward to that!

    2. Dreaming that you are taking a cat-nap is a hint that you need to take a little time off to relax. Think that one will work in the office?

    3. The position you sleep in is an indication of your personality! For example, lying like a starfish on your back suggests you are a good listener and friend, but unfortunately you are more likely to snore as a result. Looks like being a good friend can have its downside!

    4. Contrary to popular belief having a daytime nap can help improve your memory and cut the risk of heart disease. Maybe something to consider next time you are having your new contract drawn up.......?

    5. This one is for all you new parents out there; a new baby on average deprives it's parents of 400 -750 hours of sleep in the first year. Combine that with the fact that sleep deprivation produces higher levels of stress hormones produces fewer brain cells and I suspect that may clarify a few things for a lot of you, I know it does here!

    Sweet dreams everyone!

  • May Day Madness!

You don't get much more British than ye old May Day. Celebrated across Britain with fetes, maypole dancing, morris dancers and the crowning of the May Queen, its a time to get the summer clothes out of storage and look forward to that extra day off work!

There is also something about May that sends people a little bit crazy..... in Oxford students jump from Magdalen Bridge into the water to celebrate May Day despite the risk of injury at low tide. In Edinburgh there is the spectacular Beltane Fire Festival celebrated on top of Calton Hill. This is a pagan procession that has its roots in the ancient Gaelic festival. Participants representing a host of characters including the Green Man and the May Queen travel across the hill guided by fire beacons and dancing to the beat of drums, culminating in a giant bonfire representing the start of summer.

Along with the celebration of spring, it also time for us Britons to start to look forward to some warmer weather! With this in mind we thought it was time to dust off our camping gear and head on out to the wilderness (or maybe the Lake District!). We have some great picnic gear at Lifestylish.com, as well an excellent range of outdoor dinner ware for all those barbecues we hope to be having.

Have a great bank holiday everyone!

  • Kirstie's Lifestylish.com Challenge!

This month it's the turn of Kirstie, one of the team here at Lifestylish.com,  to undertake the challenge and pick her 3 favourite products - its been a hard decision for her, but she got there in the end.....

In 3rd place Kirstie chose the Firebucket ashtray. No longer do you need to pick up all the dog ends from the outskirts of your garden, or start scrubbing down your saucers. This handy little bucket clearly signals the smoking area at your party and tells people where to deposit their used ends.

In 2nd place we have the whimsical and beautiful  Rob Ryan Four Seasons range. Now personally we think Kirstie has cheated a little here, as this covers several items on our shelves, but to be honest, could you choose between them? Featuring beautiful little adages such as 'this bell will ring when we forget to remember' there is something to appeal to the romantic in everybody.

And in 1st place (drum roll please........) we have the Joseph Joseph Nest 9 plus. Showing that our Kirstie is a pragmatic girl at heart with an eye for great design (and a great cook!) she has chosen the ultimate, stacking food preparation set. This innovative, space-saving design means that it takes up the smallest possible amount of space in your kitchen, allowing you to be practical, yet stylish. It would be a shame to keep these under the kitchen counter. An all round winner!

Many thanks to Kirstie for her fabulous choices and have a great rest of the week everybody!

  • A Patriotic Party?

St. Georges Day will soon be upon us (the 23rd April to be exact), feast day of Saint George, the Patron Saint of England and he who killed the dragon and rescued the damsel in distress. All over England chivalrous males go out and re-enact the scene rescuing swooning females from the clutches of umm, large lizards? Or more commonly, everyone grabs their silly hats and patriotic flags and head over to the nearest boozer to ‘celebrate in style’!
Other traditional St. Georges day celebrations that can always be seen are the eternally creepy Punch and Judy shows, and the rather wonderful and unique English Morris Dancers, sticks and handkerchiefs ahoy! Its got to be said, there is nowhere quite like Britain.
However you choose to celebrate, here at Lifestylish.com we have got St. Georges Day covered. Not least with our fantastically patriotic Made in Britain selection. This is a range of products that are produced exclusively in Britain, and being the loyal sort that we are we feel duty bound to support them (and of course they are all fantastic!).
We also have a range of goods available for the all English street party. Our Very British Street party range includes, party platter, cakes cases, cups and even vase holders.
Anyone for a chorus of 'Jerusalem'?
